Template

A template is a sample presentation that provides a


pattern or model that you can follow to create your
own presentation.
PowerPoint includes templates for many common
types of presentations.
A presentation template contains a group of slides
with a common theme and background style as well
as suggestions for content that is standard for a
particular type of presentation.

click the Create button or the Download button to open
the template.

Changing Fonts and Font Sizes:


A font is the design of a set of letters and numbers.
Examples include:

Times New Roman, Arial, and Impact

Change Fonts using the Font menu

Fonts are measured in points. Examples include:

point, 44

point

24 point, 36

Change font size using the Font Size menu

Applying Font Styles and Effects:


Font styles are the variations in the shape or weight
of a fonts characters. Examples include.

Bold, italic, and underline

Font effects can be changed using the Font dialog


box or the Font group. Examples include:

Strikethrough, Text Shadow

Clearing Formatting:
To remove formatting from selected text, you
perform the same steps you took to apply the
formatting, which effectively reverses the
formatting.
Use the Clear Formatting button
to remove
all formatting from selected text.

Copying Formats Using the Format Painter:


The Format Painter can save you time by allowing
you to copy multiple formatting characteristics
from a section of text and then apply the same
formatting to other parts of the presentation.
Double-clicking the Format Painter button
allows you to paint the copied formatting to more
than one selection.

Aligning Text Horizontally and Vertically:


Alignment is the position of text in relation to the
edges of a placeholder on a slide.
You can left-align, center, right-align, or justify text
horizontally within a placeholder.
The Align Text button
provides a menu of options
for aligning text verticallyat the top, middle, or
bottom of a placeholder.

Line Spacing:
Line spacing is the vertical distance
between lines of text in a paragraph.
The Line spacing button

keywords.

misspelled with a wavy red line.

Finding and Replacing Text


The Find and Replace commands are used to
find and replace text.
The Find and Replace commands are located in
the Editing group on the Home tab.

Use the Find command to search for a specific
word or phrase in a presentation.
Click the Replace button when you want to find a
word and then replace it with a new one.

Applying Themes
Themes are sets of formatting choices that
include colors, fonts, effects, and backgrounds
that were predesigned to work well together.
You can customize a theme using the buttons in
the Themes group.

Customizing Slide Masters

Each theme has its own slide master and a set


of layout masters.

Slide masters store information about the theme and


layout. When you make a change to the slide master,
the change is made to the entire presentation.
Layout masters store information about the fonts,
colors, effects, and layout of each type of slide layout.
Changes to individual slide layouts affect only slides
using that layout.
