– Structures Don’t try and talk
4. Who would this appeal to? about ALL of these
Think About (but don’t necessarily discuss in everyone): in every text box –
– Age use just one or two,
– Gender
–
but cover them all in
Location
– Ethnicity the whole
– Lifestyle assignment.
– Class

5. Why it appeals
– Refer to what the representation says about the sitcom
– Uses and Gratifications - Do they use it for:
• Entertainment?
• Information?
• Personal Identity?
• Social Relationships?

their culture and so relate to it.
 Hint and Tips:
• Feel free to use two slides if you need
room.
• Try and use a good range of Sitcom and
DVD terminology throughout.
• When discussing audience appeal
consider sitcom convention AND uses and
gratifications
• Avoid writing about less meaningful
convention eg. Billings Blocks/Bar Codes
