K.2. Different types of plants and animals inhabit the earth. As a basis for understanding this concept:
a. Students know how to observe and describe similarities and differences in the appearance and behavior of
plants and animals (e.g., seed-bearing plants, birds, fish, insects).
b. Students know stories sometimes give plants and animals attributes they do not really have.
c. Students know how to identify major structures of common plants and animals (e.g., stems, leaves, roots,
arms, wings, legs).

VI. Diversity / Differentiation:
This class is a moderate/severe SDC class with students ranging from kindergarten
through 3rd grade. The lesson has been fully adapted to meet the needs of all learners.
The information is projected on the large screen so it is easy for all students to see. The
students are divided into small groups with classroom aides to assist in the assignment
to search for facts on the website provided. A touchscreen computer will be used for
students who are unable to use a mouse. For those unable to write, the Speech Notes
App will be available. Also for non-verbal students who are also unable to write, the
App Proloquo2Go will be available to assist the students with the assignment

Technology Inclusion:
The technology in the class will first include the Smartboard jukebox feature to
participate in sing-a-long songs. A touchscreen computer will be used for students
unable to use a mouse. The App Speech Notes-Free on the IPads will be used for
students who are unable to write.
Prior Knowledge: Prior to this lesson, students have: learned about various farm animals,
plants, dairy farms, and plant science.
Lesson Placement in the Unit: This is lesson _9_ of _10__.

VIII. Procedures:
1. Lesson Introduction / Anticipatory Set:
Review the previous lessons on farm fruits and vegetables.
Explain to the class that you will be continuing to create the mural project but
focusing on fruits and vegetables.
They will need to create a vegetable out of construction paper
2. Direct Instruction:
UsingtheGynzySmartboardjukeboxfeature,havethekidsparticipateinavarietyof
farmsingalongsongs.
Todayyouwillcontinuetomakeyourclassroommural,butwillbefocusingon
fruitsandvegetables.
Theywillneedtocreateavegetableoutofconstructionpaper(examplesand
templatesprovided).
