Problem Statement
Tasha

Locklear is the PRS 29 behavior

liaison at CIS Academy, she coordinates
interventions for the students and links
them to various services. Mrs. Locklear
feels the school needs more direct
interventions to address educational
motivation with students.

Services
The

school does not have a social

worker or counselor so services are
limited but they do have a lunch
program and the Robeson County
Health Plus Bus.

Strengths
Smaller

class settings.
One on one teacher assistance is
available
Over all the school has a positive and
friendly environment for their students.

Limitations
No

social worker to deal with absentees.

CIS does not participate in Positive
Behavioral Interventions and Supports
which helps reduce behavioral problems
and support higher academic skills.
Funds.

Clubs and organizations

Goals
To

enhance students academic skills

through positive reinforcements ,
evidence based practices.
Increase students motivation to read
and improve comprehension skills.
For the students to not be exposed to
negative images or people once they
leave CIS and attend high school.

Interventions
Reading

charts
Rewards, certificates, for grades
Student of the week, month
Also provide students who struggle
academic wise with rewards as well.
to be completed by April 24th.

Questions
A

few biases I had going into the

interview were that the client was not
going to want to answer questions
about race or religion.
Some values differences between me
and the client are: client is a devoted
Christian, She was raised in church as a
child, she obeys the rules of the Bible

Questions cont
Life

experiences: Client stated she was not

happy at previous job before CIS so she
resigned. Less than a week later she was hired
at CIS so she knows Jesus Christ provides
blessings to those who believe in him.
The staff would like to see the students
become more interested in academics so they
can have a prospering future, so they want to
participate in interventions that pertain to at
risk youth.

Questions cont
Research

says at risk youth struggle the

most academic wise in school, which
leads to high drop out rates, teen
pregnancies, or being incarcerated.
Majority of at risk youth come from
poverty or live in areas where the
poverty rate is high.
