TECH-PACK REFLECTION

Tech-Pack Model
The Tech-Pack model was originally called TPCK and later TPACK, which was the
combination of technological pedagogical content knowledge required to integrate technology
into instruction. There are three areas of the Tech-Pack model; Content Knowledge, Pedagogical
Knowledge, and Technological Model. These three models are separate but all intertwine
together to create the Tech-Pack model. I think this model came about because teachers want to
use models to increase students motivation to learn, to help them discover their interests, and
allow alternate ways of learning (Robyler & Doering).
Professional Growth Goals
Content knowledge refers to the body of information that teachers teach and that students
are expected to learn in a given subject or content area. I will increase the use of content
knowledge in my classroom by reflecting on past and new information, and reviewing study
guides and materials to make sure I know the material in depth to make the lesson most effective.
Pedagogy knowledge is how you teach and meeting all the students needs and engage them in
learning. I will increase the use of pedagogy knowledge in my classroom by reading teacher
manuals, textbooks, and researching new information on different teaching strategies for the
classroom. As a future teacher, I want to be able to consider new methods to give my students
every opportunity to engage them in the classroom. Knowledge of technology is skills and
techniques required to use technology in the classroom. I will increase the use of technology in
my classroom by learning how to use new technologies so I can help students learn how to use
them. We can find some of this information in manuals or I will get assistance from other
teachers.

Reflecting Professional Growth in the PEU and NETS Standards

Content knowledge relates to the PEU standards in the content and pedagogical
knowledge because of standards. Standards play an important roll in the classroom because it is
an expectation of what students should be learning in a certain grade and subject. Standards will
be in my classroom because it will not only make me accountable for what I am teaching, but
also make me accountable for what the students are learning and what they will be tested on. In
the NET standards, I think content knowledge best relates to research and information fluency
because students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information which allows them
to learn more about the content we are learning in class. Pedagogy knowledge relates to the PEU
standards in the content and pedagogical knowledge because this part of the PEU model talks
about educational issues and it is important to know what is going on in the educational world as
a teacher. For example, common core is a big educational issue and as a teacher we need to
research big educational issues and learn more information about them. Pedagogy relates to the
NETs standards in communication and collaboration because students are using digital media
and working collaboratively, at a distance and with others. Knowledge of technology relates to
the PEU standards in technology literacy because, computer literacy is required for future
teachers, and we need to know how to incorporate technology into instruction and learning.
Knowledge of technology relates to the NET standards in technology operations and concepts,
because students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and
operations (ISTE Standards Students).
