The Liturgical celebrations on Palm Sunday, Holy

Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday, are
the most meaningful expressions of our deep Faith in Gods
Plan of Salvation.
The carrying of the Palms, the Reading of the Passion of
Christ, the celebration of the Passover and the Eucharist
and especially the Resurrection of Christ help us to focus
on Creation, the purpose of our lives here on Earth, and
our Life after Death.
Forty days of Lent (Prayer, Fasting, Abstinence and
Almsgiving) prepared us in body and soul to understand
and appreciate Gods love for us. God so loved the world,
that He sent His only Son Jesus, to become a human Being!
His Life and His preaching and especially His Sacrifice on
the Cross are what we should focus on in this life. Doing so,
we are assured of Peace on Earth and eternal happiness in
Heaven. Pleasure and wealth, prestige and ideologies
contrary to Gods plan, are still what many people work for,
in their lives. We now know better! Let us embrace Christ
more fully and live by His example and His words of Love
and Forgiveness.
May our Lenten and Easter Celebrations encourage and
strengthen our resolve to live according to Gods Plan,
experience His Love and let us respond in kind to His Love.
Fr Sebastian

SAINT OF THE WEEK

SAINT CATHERINE OF SWEDEN

Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle

(1651-1719), Founder - Brothers of the
Christian Schools, Feast Day April 7
As a young 17th-century Frenchman, John
had everything going for him: scholarly bent,
good looks, noble family background, money,
refined upbringing. At the early age of 11, he
received the tonsure and started preparation
for the priesthood, to which he was ordained
at 27. Complete dedication to what he saw as
God's will for him dominated the life of John
Baptist de la Salle. In 1950, Pope Pius XII
named him patron of schoolteachers for his
efforts in upgrading school instruction.
Preach by example, and practice before the
eyes of the young what you wish them to
accept.

Celebrate! Today is the

anniversary of the Great
Surprise, and just as the
first disciples were surprised to find the tomb
empty, so too does God
have some resurrection
surprises in mind for you!
In the Easter Gospel reading from John 20:1-9,
there's a lot of scurrying
around and
excitement
and reporting some amazing news that no one yet
understands. Even though
Jesus had given them advance notice that he would
rise again after being put
to death, God's plans took
them by surprise. They did
not expect a resurrection.
They didn't
understand
that it was a necessary
part of the Messiah's mission.

God's plans often take us

Saturday April 11
by surprise. In so many
Acts 4:13-21
situations of our lives, we
Ps 118:1,14-21
don't understand that hard
Mark 16:9-15
times are going to produce
wonderful victories. We
fail to realize that the empty tombs in our lives (the
losses that we grieve) are beginnings of important new
growth. We cannot imagine how Jesus is going to redeem bad times into great blessings.
We suffer through the hardships, just trying to cope,
waiting for an opportunity to finally walk away from our
crosses. Meanwhile, Jesus wants to give us an Easter
morning because of the crosses.
How can we recognize the glory of God when we're

depressed? How can we realize our

resurrections when we're cursing our
crosses? It's impossible!
To be the Easter people that we're
supposed to be, we have to learn
how to see the hope of resurrection
in the pain of the cross. We have to
trust that Jesus is always there,
working a plan to redeem bad into
good. We have to allow ourselves to
be surprised by God.

Reflect & Discuss:

1. What trials are you still enduring? What cross are you still carrying? Are you still being nailed
for something you did not do?
Which of your desires or dreams
are dying?
2. Ask the Father to use your sufferings for the glory of his kingdom. What new life is this creating for you?
3. What are some of the ways in
which God has surprised you?
4. How is this an experience of
resurrection?

STATIONS OF THE CROSS FOR CHILDREN
A children's version of the Stations of the Cross was presented school
wide for Holy Family Catholic Academys students on Wednesday,
April 1st in the church. Students were able to experience this
beautiful prayer and see Jesus final days through Holy Family
Churchs newly installed Stations. As part of a meaningful Holy Week
presentation for the entire school community, the hosting 7th grade
students practiced hard to explain to the younger students about the
suffering and sacrifice Jesus endured. May our own Lenten crosses
and reflections give rise to a glorious Easter!
