To whom it may concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Lauren Cody. Lauren is currently attending
SUNY Canton studying Early Childhood. Lauren will receive her Associate of Science Degree in May 2015.
Lauren has a strong desire to work with young children with special needs. I have the pleasure of working
with Lauren, serving as her primary instructor, and academic advisor.
Lauren is a kind and articulate student. She has a solid understanding of child development. It is quite
evident that she has a passion for working with children; she consistently demonstrates an awareness of
developmentally appropriate practice and an understanding of the whole-child, curriculum standards,
professionalism, and program planning.
Lauren is a responsible, respectful, and compassionate individual. Through in class activities, reflective
writing assignments, and projects, she has demonstrated growth, interest in, and an understanding of
primary teaching. Through her coursework, Lauren has practiced curriculum planning methods, lesson plan
writing and implementation, and behavior management techniques.
Lauren is extremely dependable and is a very conscientious student. I am so impressed by her work ethic,
maturity, and academic progress. Upon entering the Early Childhood Program, Lauren has excelled in her
major courses and internship; earning consistent grades of A. Lauren has embraced her college experience
and is very active in community service activities. Lauren was elected by her peers to serve as Vice
President of the Early Childhood Student Club. She excels in this role and is highly responsible. Lauren is
an active member of the Early Childhood Club; attending all on and off campus volunteer events.
Additionally, Lauren has both participated in, and volunteered at our Annual Fall Early Childhood
Conference in 2013 and 2014. As co-advisor to the EC Club, Lauren has proven time and time again that
she is a student with whom I can count on for all aspects of any event from preparation to clean-up. I have
had the honor of observing Lauren working with young children at such community-based functions and am
very impressed with her ability to relate to and engage with children of all ages and abilities.
I support and recommend, without reservation, Lauren Codys enrollment to your institution of higher
education so she may pursue a Bachelors Degree. If any additional information is needed, I can be
reached at (315) 386-7604 or by email at maiocco@canton.edu.
Sincerely,
