Acceptable Use Policy


Access to the Internet is a privilege, not a right. Adherence to these Internet guidelines is a
condition for a student's access to the Internet.

While in school the internet, email, digital video and mobile technologies, can only be
used for school purposes.

Software cannot be downloaded or/and installed on school technologies.

Students must log on to the school network with their own user name and password.

Students must not reveal their passwords to anyone.

Communications with students, teachers and others must be responsible and sensible
at all times.

Students are responsible for their behavior when using the Internet and should be wary
of the resources they access and the language they use.

Offensive or illegal material must never deliberately browsed, downloaded, uploaded or


forwarded. If such material is accidentally accessed then this must be reported
immediately to a teacher.

Personal information such as name, phone number or address should never be given
out and students and arrangements to meet online contacts should never be made
unless it is part of an approved school project.

Images, video, sounds or text that could offend any member of the school community
must never be deliberately uploaded.

Ownership of others work must always be respected, the rules for plagiarism also
apply to students' use of the Internet

Students must never bypass the internet filtering system.

All use of the Internet and other related technologies may and can be monitored and
logged and made available to teachers.

Students must inform their teacher or administrator about any threatening, harassing,
or otherwise inappropriate on-line communication.

These rules are designed to keep students safe and school sanctions will be applied if
they are not followed.

Students must read and discuss this agreement with their parents and then sign and follow
the terms of the policy.

By signing, parents and students are stipulating that they have read these guidelines and
agree to adhere to them. Adherence to these Internet guidelines is a condition for a student's
access to the Internet. Any concerns or explanation can be discussed with their class teacher,
librarian or principal.
