Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hello! My name is Courtney Dorsten and I will be your childs teacher this year. This is my first year teaching
at Weisenborn Middle School. I grew up here in Huber Heights with three brothers and one sister and actually
attended Weisenborn from 2004-2007. I graduated from Wright State University in 2015 with my bachelors
degree and 2016 with my masters degree in middle childhood education with concentrations in math and
science. I still currently live in Huber Heights with my 5 year old black lab, Isabella.
Throughout my schooling, I have become very aware of the impact teachers can have on the lives of their
students. As students enter school, they are turned over to the care of their teacher for nearly seven hours a
day. I have always been a HUGE supporter of frequent home-school communication. It is my hope that this note
will be the basis for a great deal of dialogue and communication between us. Well discuss your child, whats
happening in our classroom, ways you can support your childs learning at home, and ways that I can extend
what you do at home in school.
I would love for you to let me know about your child, their likes and dislikes, and if there is anything special I
should know. I believe that when a parent and teacher communicate regularly about a child, the child has a
happier, more successful school year. The more I know about your child, the better I can effectively meet
his/her needs in my classroom. Pleases email me at the address below with any information about your child or
any questions about the upcoming school year.
This will be an EXCITING year and my goal is to make this year the best it can be for each student in my
class! I look forward to meeting you and your child and having a great year together!
Sincerely,

Courtney Dorsten
