No Kid Hungry Car Show
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Early Childhood Chapter hosted a car show
in which all proceeds went to the No Kid Hungry foundation. Members used funds from chapter
budget to buy a Best of Show plaque, car owners paid for their spot and received a free meal. A
members familys restaurant donated food for us to sell and my family donated a bounce house
for kids to enjoy. We raised around $1,000 which is pretty good considering it was our first time
hosting this sort of fundraiser.

Community Reading Nights

Our schools FCCLA chapter hosted monthly themed reading nights where we would invite
younger kids, usually Kindergarten through 2nd grade, from our feeder schools. We would then
give each member or groups of members certain jobs to do such as pick books that go with our
theme, decorate the classroom, and buy healthy snacks. When the kids showed up we would put
them in groups and alternate reading groups.
Nightly Babysitting
Our school hosts a university preparation program where Arizona State University
representatives help them prepare for how to help their children as they prepare to apply to
colleges. Members of the Early Childhood Education elective class would volunteer to babysit
the younger children for free so the parents would be able to solely focus on the college
representatives.
