Darwin, Aristotle, and Moral Knowledge Dr. Micah Lott Boston College
In a series of thought-provoking essays, Sharon Street has argued that
once we appreciate the influence of natural selection on our normative beliefs, we see that normative realism leads to skepticism about moral knowledge. While Street's "Darwinian Dilemma" has generated significant debate in meta-ethics, Aristotelian views have been almost entirely absent from that debate. In this lecture, Dr. Lott will develop an Aristotelian response to Street, and, in the process, attempt to clarify the sense in which Aristotelian naturalism is a form of moral realism.
