There was an ancient city, held by colonists from Tyre, opposite Italy and the far-off

mouth of the Tiber, rich in resources, and savage in the pursuit of war. Juno was
said to love this land above all others, holding even Samos afterwards. Here were
her weapons, and here was her chariot; even now the goddess planned and favored
this kingdom to be a kingdom for all people if by any chance fate permitted it. Yet
