By the end of the lesson, students will be able describe the main pronunciation processes and be able to identify each on a short quiz.
Steps for instruction: 1. Videos of stages, take observations - slides 2-3 (7 mins) a. talk as a class about observations 2. Talk about how language is acquired - slide 4 (5 mins) a. have students talk with neighbors about examples 3. Talk about IDS - slides 5-6 (3 mins) 4. Talk about stages of speech development - slides 7-8 (5 mins) 5. Talk about pronunciation processes - slides 9-13 (15 mins) 6. Talk about experimental methods - slides 14-19 (15 mins) 7. Questions - (10 mins) a. ask for question here but also count this time for questions as lecturing 8. Give assessment (15 mins)
Students as Active Learners Throughout this lecture, there are multiple opportunities for students to be engaged, active learners. We will be showing multiple videos that the students will be discussing with one another and as a class. We are also giving a small assessment at the end of the class that covers content from the lecture, so students must be engaged in order to answer the questions correctly. Questions and student input will be encouraged throughout the lesson.
