Sesa Goa Limited is PROFILE


the largest producer & exporter of iron ore,
in the private sector, in India with mining operations in Goa,
Karnataka & Orissa.
In April 2007 the Sesa group was taken over by Vedanta
resources PLC.
Sesa Industries, an 88% subsidiary of Sesa Goa Limited, was
started in 1992 for manufacturing of pig iron.
SIL manufactures basic, foundry and nodular grade pig iron for
the steel mills and foundries. It also sells good quality slag to the
cement industry.

PROCESS
Sesa Industries is the first compa ny to
introduce low phosphorous foundry grade pig
iron in India, in 1992.
The Companys plant at Amona, strategically
situate d on the banks of the Mandovi river, has
two blast furnaces of 173 m3 volume and a
combined annual capacity of 292,000 metric
tonnes.
Sesas pig iron pla nt manufactures special
gra des of pig iron to meet different customer
require ments. Low sulphur and low manga
nese conte nt pig iron. Nodular grade pig iron.

called an oligopolistic industry
not in the strict sense of the
word though. There are many
players in the iron ore industry.
However, there are major four
playersRIO, BHP, VALE,
and FMGthat control the
bulk of the export market.
Through their supply decisions,
at any given time, they decide
the price and demand being left
to the prevailing market factors.
