PROFESSIONAL GOALS
To obtain a teaching position in the subject areas in which I am highly
qualified at the secondary level based on my education, personality, and
skills. I plan to challenge students while scaffolding an environment of
inquiry, critical thinking, and rigor. I hope to be involved in extracurricular
activities such as athletics, mock government and/or a theater program in
order to further involve myself with my students and the community.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
Mason High School, September 2014-Present
Taught 3 class periods per day on a trimester schedule with two prep hours
per day over the course of a yearlong internship including World History and
Geography A (Pre-history-French Revolution), and World History B
(Industrialization-Present). Responsibilities included creating a syllabus for
each class, developing lesson and unit plans, differentiating instruction for
IEP heavy classes, working in a team-taught classroom with at risk students,
creating and analyzing formative, summative, formal, informal, and authentic
assessment, grading, attendance, gathering statistical evidence of student
growth, IEP meetings, after school staff meetings, parent-teacher
conferences, and regular communications with parents.

PRE-INTERNSHIP FIELD EXPERIENCE


Eastern Middle School, January 2014-April 2014
Planned, taught, and analyzed social studies lessons for a 7th grade social
studies/eastern hemisphere class. Developed and investigated research
questions based on my classroom observations and interviews. Planned and
taught multiple lessons and micro-units throughout the year.
Potterville Alternative Education October 2013-December 2014
Field placement included assisting at-risk 9-12th grade students for two class
periods, twice a week for a total of 4 hours per week in which I worked with
individual students or small groups in order to scaffold learning in a US

History classes. I also worked with students in a normal classroom setting in


which my role mainly consisted of keeping students on task and giving
assistance as appropriate.
Refugee Development Center, 2010
Field placement included four hours per week of individual or small group
tutoring with refugee students in the Lansing School District. Worked with
students to develop English literacy skills, as well as to aid them in
understanding and comprehension of homework and study materials.
