To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to strongly recommend Esther Hopkin as a teacher. I have had the pleasure
of supervising Esther for approximately 4 years as a teaching assistant for an introductory
physical science class, and have found her to be an outstanding employee.
I feel she is particularly well suited to teaching for the following reasons:
1. She is well qualified as a teacher. She has a solid understanding of core course
material and pedagogy. She is very good at identifying meaningful learning
objectives and designing presentations that target those points.
2. She has excellent communications skills. She has a strong ability to adapt her
teaching to a wide variety of learning styles. She presents material in a very
organized manner geared to the level of understanding of her target audience. As
a TA she has demonstrated ability to work well with students both individually, in
small groups, and in a larger classroom setting.
3. She is extremely pleasant to work with. She is enthusiastic and outgoing. She
genuinely likes people. She is typically quite cheerful. She works well under
pressure, and she maintains her calm and professional demeanor even in very
difficult situations.
4. She is very well organized. She gets her work done on time, and gets things done
right the first time. She anticipates needs and plans ahead for them. It was not
unusual to find that she had anticipated a need for an extra study session, and
scheduled it, before I asked her to do so.
5. She is proficient with computers. She is familiar with Microsoft office software.
As a TA she used Word and Excel extensively.
6. She is a hard worker. She always came to work ready and willing to work. She
has a way of making each and every student that walks into the lab feel as if she
was there specifically to help them.
