REFLECTION SHEET: EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

This recent presentation on experiential learning opportunities for students with

disabilities is a great example of what I like best about higher education. During this
presentation, my classmate, Leah Pasquesi, and I engaged our class in learning how to best
support students with disabilities in experiential learning opportunities using a variety of
different presentation mediums. This type of education and facilitation is what gives me the
most energy both in the classroom as a student and as a higher education professional. This
presentation highlights my skill set and strength in this area, and therefore, I am using it as my
example of the Communication Skills learning goal.
Though this presentation serves mostly as an example of my oral communication and
presentation abilities, it also speaks to my ability to be clear and concise in written
communication even during presentations. Most notably, this presentation demonstrates my
ability to facilitate discussions and activities of a professional nature, while engaging multiple
perspectives and constituents. For example, this presentation utilizes small group work,
hypothetical scenarios, large group discussion, and video in order to accommodate different
learning styles. The use of a video and website navigation during the presentation are also an
example of my ability to use different forms of technology in instruction. Lastly, the creation
and implementation of this presentation was in partnership with a classmate. It took open
communication on both of our parts in order to schedule meetings, delegate tasks, break up roles,
and ultimately deliver the presentation successfully. This is one way that I demonstrated my
ability to work collegially with others. Overall, I believe this presentation represents my ability
to communicate both orally and in written form.
