Dear Grand Erie District School Board,
It is with great anticipation that I present my resume for a position as an Elementary
School Teacher. In addition to acquiring a Bachelors Degree in Contemporary Studies with
Childrens Education and Development and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing
University, I also possess a long rich history in education background. I have a personal
connection to core education and special education. In May 2015 I am taking the Additional
Qualifications course Special Education Part 1. My personal goal is to become a Special
Education Teacher in the future because I enjoy making a difference to those students who
require the extra assistance. My sister was diagnosed with autism at an early age but with
the aid of Lansdowne Childrens Centre she developed social skills, individuality, confidence
and a new level of independence. My sisters journey of development provided my
inspiration to enter the workforce of special education. I hope to contribute the same level
of dedication and success to my community as her previous teachers.
Along with my university education I also have extensive employment history with
the County of Brant Recreation Department. My lead role as a Recreation Coordinator was
to lead social, creative, active and fun programs for participants aged 4-15. Over my ten
years with the County of Brant I have risen from a volunteer to a supervising position as I
maintained professionalism and a healthy and personable relationship with the
participants, parents and colleagues. For the past 5 years I volunteered at several
elementary schools across Brantford, including Ryerson Heights Elementary School. I
provided individualized tutoring sessions to children in grades 2, 3 and 4. At this stage in
my career I am ready to leap into work connected with special education. I want to have the
opportunity to assist every child reach his or her potential.
I am sure that all my skills will be highly beneficial to Grand Erie School Board.
Along with this I would like to bring enthusiasm for this job, which will help those who need
it the most and would be benefitted by my compassion and ability to teach social skills.
In that regard, I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my
qualifications and the possibility of joining your school board. Please find attached my
resume for your review. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
Sincerely,
Olivia Yardy
