Book Of Poems

Intro:
In the past weeks, and moving into the next week we have been and will be
working through a unit on poetry. Throughout this time we will be reading and
writing poems by ourselves and by others. Some of the poems we will be
reading are considered classics while some are very loosely called poetry. The
central theme to all of these poems will be self discovery. All of the poems that
you write will be centered around you and your views, beliefs, and perceptions
about the world. Over the next week hold onto all of the poems that you write
and have written because we will be using them.

The Task:
The task is for you is to create a book of poems from the poems that you have
written in class. In this book of poems (a folder or a binder) you will revise 5 of
the poems that we have composed in class and show the first version along
with the revised version. These will be the poems that you like the most or
value the most. Next you will compose 3 poems outside of class on any subject
or topic that you want to. Then finally you will choose 1 poem in the classic
sense that is your favorite of all time and then you will choose 1 song that you
consider your favorite of all time. After you choose these two poems you will
write at least a half a page short essay explaining why this song and poem are
your favorites. At the start of this book/folder of poems you will need a short
writing about your book explaining what it is about? Why you chose some of
the poems you did?
