I am writing to apply for the position of grade six teacher at Coronation Public School, position
number 1234. I completed my Bachelor of Arts, with a major in History and a minor in
Geography at Nipissing University. I am a recent graduate of the Nipissing University Schulich
School of Education, Primary/ Junior Division. In addition, I am taking the Additional Basic
Qualification for the Intermediate Division this spring/ summer.

I will be completing an Additional Qualification for Special Education Part 1, and later
completing Part 2 and then a Specialization. I have completed practicum placements in grade one
and six classrooms in Oshawa over the past year. These practicum placements have allowed me
to get to know more about the community of Oshawa and develop my own sense of community
in the area. I am a kind, patient, and caring educator. I ensure lessons are well suited to
accommodate a variety of learning styles and I adapt as required. After lessons, I reflect on both
the positives and negatives, to determine what went well and where I can improve. I believe cocreating documents such as rubrics and success criteria is very beneficial for student learning
and success. I maintain a positive learning environment through positive reinforcement and
encouragement.

I believe teaching is about preparing students on an academic, social, and personal level for their
future. I want to teach students in a way that guides them in reaching their full potential.
Learning and academic development can be difficult but it should also be fun, creative, and
collaborative. The curriculum provides detailed examples of ways to cover expectations using a
variety of learning examples and is a valuable resource in the classroom. Being in the classroom
is an amazing feeling. Influencing and educating young minds, seeing the impact one person can
have in a childs life is incredible. My classroom will be inviting, safe, accepting, calm, yet
exciting and fun.

As a recent graduate into the field of education, I believe I would be an ideal asset to the
Coronation Team, bringing a fresh perspective and a love for teaching. I would appreciate an
