This assignment fulfills competency 2.1.

7: Apply knowledge of human behavior in

the social environment. Through this assignment I was required to complete an oral
presentation on a behavioral science research study presented in scholarly journals.
For this project I chose to discuss the topic of infant attachment. Through the use of
scholarly articles I was able to utilize conceptual frameworks in order to assess and
evaluate infant attachment and the factors that may affect it. I gathered much
knowledge from the scholarly articles regarding how an infants attachment can be
affected by the behaviors of parents as well as the environment in which the child is
raised, thus providing me with additional knowledge regarding human behaviors
and the social environment. I was able to apply this knowledge to potential practice
with families and children, which has proved to be beneficial in my current field
placement. This project exposed me to much new information and broadened my
knowledge regarding infant attachment. This knowledge has been incredibly helpful
in my current field placement with foster children as I often take note of the childs
attachment to both birth parents and foster parents and am now able to assess why
the child may be displaying these different attachments based on the knowledge I
gained from scholarly articles used for this project.
