War

War is the continuation of diplomacy by other means.

-Carl von Clausewitz
PART IAs the editor for an anthology on warfare, you have been assigned the task
of finding primary sources that justify, glorify, and condemn war. So,
altogether you must have three sourcesone that justifies war, one that glorifies
war, and one that condemns war. Since you must also find a variety of sources
for your anthology, you may only select once from each of the categories below.
In other words, you must have three sources, but you cannot have three
photographs or three poems.
-photographs
-poems
-letters home
-propaganda
-diaries
-political cartoons
-speeches
-prose written during the time period (autobiographies, memoirs, historical
fiction)
-a map, graph, or chart
PART IIEditors for anthologies always provide an analysis of the primary sources
they include. For each primary source you choose, write an analysis that
explains how it justifies, glorifies, or condemns war. You should cite evidence
from the source in your analysis.

You will do an anthology on WWI in the 3rd quarter and one on WWII in the 4th
quarter.
