My Personal Philosophy of Education

I believe the purpose of education is to ensure that each individual child achieves
intellectual and personal excellence prepared to be life long learners and tomorrows
leaders. As a teacher, I will lead as a positive academic model creating a love for
learning, inquiry, increase in confidence, consistent improvement of work ethics and
bettering oneself and their community. To support my beliefs, I will establish a studentcentered, open learning environment based on Progressivism and practicality and
relativity rather than theoretical considerations. I think integrating worldly experiences
and current events in the classroom are vital to accomplish effective, heartfelt open
discussions and raise awareness of the students surroundings. I would love to see my
students consider social problems and reflect their beliefs as well as others in an
intellectual and emotional manner. I hope to gain this experience by having my students
participate in community service and develop deliberate discussions and formulate
changes to the world around them and their future.
My role as an educator is to exhibit the infinite learning opportunities available to
students, and teach them what they need to know to meet their greatest potential and
make the most of their future. I will compose assessments that will prepare my students
for standardized tests and how to think critically. It is essential that children not only are
able to recall facts, but also are able to apply and experience what they have learned
inside the classroom and execute their knowledge outside in an ever-changing diverse
society. As a result of my beliefs and purpose of education I will create a classroom with
a safe environment, consistency and order to manage my classroom ensuring students
will care and show respect to authority, others, and themselves. I will show students that I
respect them and their choices by allowing them appropriate academic freedom allowing
students to be understood and heard. It is important to produce genuine relationships
among students and their peers as well as sustaining a student-teacher level
relationship. I believe positive, long-lasting, supportive relationships attain higher levels
of achievement, there is a desire, an admiration and concern to learn to and connect
oneself in the classroom and lesson. Frequent communication, constructive guidance, and
praise is more likely to impact the trust, engagement and positive behavior of a students
education. Having positive relationships attracts the process of learning and promotes a
desire to learn. Yes, as an educator we are to teach, but it is our job to foster students to
crave and aspire to learn.
I plan to manage my classroom with order, while encouraging the enchantment
of education by allowing students to discover how enjoyable and special they are as
individuals and allowing them to have fun, explore, question and play. I will design
meaningful learning opportunities for my students that correspond with the state
standards and curriculum using instructional strategies such as I do, you do, we do,
group projects, journal writing, experiments and innovative activities that teach my
students how to think critically and creatively independently and with others.
There needs to be an emphasis of whole-brain participation and engagement, students
and I will interact with one another throughout a lesson so that students are being active,
guaranteeing that their minds are being stimulated.
My classroom will be a community of students who value encouragement and
will be motivated to learn and push themselves and one another to be confident and not
afraid to make mistakes. Obtaining this community allows students to learn in an
environment where they can openly participate and not feel threatened or intimidated by
their teachers or peers. Students should be recognized as unique individuals and
ultimately learn in their own way through experimenting and facing trial and error.

I will make sure each student feels needed and important in my classroom. I will do so by
providing each student with a classroom job that compliments their personal strengths
and contributes to the greater good of the classroom. I will also conduct a variety of
different learning activities that address different learning styles such as hands-onactivities and experiments for the physical or kinesthetic learners, lecturing or audio clips
for the auditory learners, using demonstrations. Power Points, media clips, and
illustrations for my visual learners. Its important to acknowledge different learning
styles so students are exposed to other ways of learning, and so that students gain
confidence and pride in their own educational experience. With an increase of
globalization it is crucial as a teacher to be able to relate, learn from, and be open to all
cultures and teach students to do the same. I will find ways to incorporate students and
others culture into my curriculum and the class atmosphere. I will include an array of
students work, media clips grasping cultural differences and having a classroom library
with a variety of literature of different authors that represent different parts of the world. I
believe students must be aware of the diversity that is around them and that they learn
how to embrace the different people around them.
A community contains different types of people with different strengths and
weaknesses, and in order to function each individual needs a purpose to work together for
the greater good. To display what it means to have a specific purpose in a community, I
will respectfully cooperate with students, their guardians, my fellow colleagues, and
administration by conducting in a professional, courteous and loving manner.
