Subject: Transparency international USA

Dear RWS 1301 class,

Currently in the world, corruption is a big issue for some important areas of society; especially in the
government and in the private sector. There are different ways in which business corruption can take
form, such as bribery, embezzlement and extortion. People in power try to stop and prevent these
practices; by enacting and enforcing laws, establishing policies and giving incentives. Nowadays exist
several laws like the, foreign corrupt practices act and the anti corruption act, enacted by the government
of the United States; plus the different policies that each company has. But it is not an easy job to keep
everyone from committing this kind of infringements, primarily because most of the times these actions
get unpunished and people dont care enough about this problem. Even though when, by doing this,
business can face fines, loss of resources, trust or credibility and they get a bad image.
Transparency international USA is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1993 to combat
corruption in government, international business and development. It promotes system reform trough
collaboration in a global network with locations in more than 100 countries; having a collective action
with governmental agencies, international companies and organizations. Also by having extensive
expertise in the subject and in the development of tools, plans and approaches for combating corruption.
This organization is a recognized anti- corruption leader and a respected voice on national and
international integrity issues; which works in a national and international level to fight against corruption
and to promote transparency and integrity. It strengthens private sector integrity by developing standards,
like the bribe payer index, where one of the things you can see is what sectors are more vulnerable to
bribery; and also by developing initiatives in voluntary collaboration with major U.S. and international
business organizations. They encourage consistent enforcement of prohibitions against transnational
bribery, off book accounts and unethical business practices.
This agency, TI-USA, produces a wide range of different papers, original research analysis and
information about corruption practices and violation of policies. It also monitors news about corrupt
practices and reform initiatives and provides the links to articles and publications about these subjects as a
way of informing the audience and raising awareness. As an outreach they also have different events and
activities inside the country and around the world; they provide conferences about anti-corruption
practices and private equity, boot camps, and found raisings. Since this is a non-profit organization they
accept donations either online on their web page http://www.transparency-usa.org/ , by mail through a
check sent to their address or by calling their phone. In order to register as a volunteer to help with the
actions of the organization, one must send an e-mail to administration@transparency-usa.org with certain
