The third standard looks at the area of curricular content knowledge.

This
standard emphasizes knowledge of general and specialized curriculum that is used to
individualize learning for students with exceptionalities. The two artifacts that I obtained
for standard three are a class syllabus for Government and Politics class and a megachart
for Government and Politics. The syllabus outlines the course objectives, classroom
conduct, as well as outlines basic class expectations. The syllabus informs students of
what will be expected of them during the course, and what they will need to complete to
be successful in the course. This artifact demonstrates knowledge of this standard because
a syllabus is one way to inform students of basic curriculum objectives that must be
reached to complete the course, as well as how they will be graded for the course. This
syllabus can include modifications and accommodations to the course that show how the
course will accommodate individualized learning. The next artifact that I obtained for this
standard lays out all of the objectives for each unit, and what curriculum will be covered
during each unit. It also lays out essential understanding for each unit. These are the key
concepts that students should take from each unit. This document is essential for making
sure that the necessary curriculum is covered throughout each unit. This relates to
standard three because it directly reflects curricular content and what needs to be covered
during the class. It lays out what knowledge students will retain from completing each
unit, as well as essential questions that students should be able to answer following each
unit. This standard taught me that it is critical to inform students about what will be
expected of them as far as course work goes and what curriculum knowledge they will be
expected to know by the end of each unit. This directly correlates to the impact of student

learning because it deals with the curriculum content that they will be learning, and how
teachers will us the curricula to individualize learning for students with exceptionalities.
