The theme I embrace the most within Macbeth is guilt. Guilt as a theme plays a big role in
Macbeth. Guilt shows how hardhearted Macbeth is and also softens his ambition. All of the evil
doings Macbeth does arent able to be fully enjoyed considering the fact that he is guilty about
doing all of them. Initially, Macbeth was showed off as a really great person and even after his
wrong doings and evil ways are brought out he still shows off his hero like qualities. For
instance, in the scene when Macbeth was visited by the ghost of Banquo, who he murdered, he
nearly drove himself crazy and almost revealed that it was him who was the murderer. However,
in this play Macbeth isnt the only one who seems to be guilt tripping. Lady Macbeth seems to
have something sitting on her conscious also. Instead, Lady Macbeths conscious is given in a
clearer way in her dreams. Shakespeare is giving us an example basically saying no matter what
you cant escape the guilt you will feel after any wrong doing.Obviously Lady Macbeths guilt
was so overwhelming to herself it drove her to kill herself. Not to mention,Lady Macbeth is the
driving force behind her husbands actions. In fact, Macbeths strong sense of guilt suggests that
he would not have realized his ambitions without her there to encourage him."How ist with me,
when every noise appals me? / What hands are here! Ha, they pluck out mine eyes. / Will all great
Neptunes ocean wash this blood / Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather / The
multitudinous seas incarnadine, / Making the green one red. " Macbeth, II, II. This quote to me shows
that Macbeth is guilty after being slapped by his wife for bringing the dagger with him after murdering
Duncan. Although he doesnt recognize that his hands are filled with blood, the audience does and it
indicates that Macbeth did something unrighteous especially after saying Will all great Neptunes
ocean wash this blood. In my opinion that quote shows that not even the most powerful person would
not be able to remove these wrongdoings from Macbeths mind.

I think that the color green

Macbeth talks about symbolizes and could represent money and ambition. However, by Macbeth being
so jealous this talk about green turns into red which stands for blood. Out, damned spot! Out I say
Lady Macbeth, Act V, scene i. In this scene, in my opinion; Lady Macbeth seems a bit confused and
unaware of not only her surroundings but of whats going on.Lady Macbeth seems to be in a state of
delusion. Reason being is because although Lady Macbeth is clearly looking at the blood on her hands
she does not know that a crime has been committed. Although we, as audiences, are aware of all the
characters' feelings and situations, Lady Macbeth seems to have gone insane because she keeps
seeing the blood stain that cannot be cleaned. Lady Macbeth's conscience constantly haunts her and
also keeps reminding her of all the crimes she had committed. She continuously rubs her hand to get

rid of the blood, which will never be washed away. Lady Macbeths incessant rubbing of her hands
leads to insanity and eventually to suicide. (http://ricajinmacbeth.weebly.com/quotes.html). Another
quote that caught my attention was when Macbeth stated One cried, 'God bless us!' and 'Amen,' the
other, as they had seen me with these hangman's hands. List'ning their fear, I could not say 'Amen,'
when they did say 'God bless us'. Methought, I heard a voice cry, 'Sleep no more! Macbeth does
murder sleep'.Macbeth, II,II. This was interesting to me because this was right after Macbeth did the
killing of Duncan. Macbeths favorite word before the killing use to be amen. Somehow after the
killing it became very hard for him to say it. Guilty much ? Macbeth doesnt think that God will protect
him anymore because of this terrible crime he have committed. The killing of Duncan also leads to
Macbeth having lack of sleep.
