Self-Reflection

Whats Your Tech-Pack?

Self- Reflection
A.
As a class we did research on the state of Texas. We found out the below information

State song
State symbols
State Capital
State Flag
State seal
State bird
State nick name (if any)
States major attraction

The objective is to get students to learn other information about different states other than the
state of Texas. The goal is for the students to work in small groups. Within the small groups
students are going to use Wikis to display their work and present to the entire class. The students
will be allowed to use YouTube, do videos, use pictures and etc. The point is to have a nice
visual aide at the end of the lesson to present. Students must also cite and reference works if the
work is not original and do not belong to them.

What is
Known
Class will be using the
internet. Class will be using
Wikispaces (Wikis).
Students will be using the
internet and Wikispace to do a
Social Studies project in a
small group.

Social Studies

What must be
learned
How does Wikispace used?
How to does it work? How to
display work? How to add
media and pictures?
How will the group agree to
do the work? How to cite
referenced material? What all
do you need to know about
Wikispace? How much time
will be needed?
Students must first do research
on their state and answer the
above questions before using
the internet.

C.
For the first column I would actually go to the website and take a tour and see if I am capable as
a teacher to learn everything about the site. I would familiarize myself with the site. I would also
do an example on Texas to display as a model to the class.
D.
The content would be Social Studies and using the internet. I would like for my entire class to
have access to laptops. Even though students would be working in small groups they should all
be learning how to use the internet and cite work. I would like to also have about 2 and half
weeks to work on the project. The assignment should be done at school during Social Studies
time. Students should be having accountable talk because our time is very critical.
