“Active Physics”
What is it?
Active Physics was developed by Dr. Arthur Eisenkraft and leading physicists, physics teachers and science educators under
the auspices of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Institute of Physics.
Each Active Physics chapter was written by a dedicated team of physicists and high school teachers, supported by prominent
technical editors, educational technology specialists, cognitive scientists and math curriculum specialists. Active Physics is
taking the lead in the "Physics First" Movement across the nation.
When is it?
Participants will only need to attend 1 (one) session

1. You must be an ICS I or Physics teachers who is willing to teach the Sport: Physics in Action and Let Us Entertain
you units. You must already have access to the Active Physics kit and units.
2. Visit the LAUSD learning zone https://lz.lausd.net/lz/index.jsp log in using your LAUSD single sign on. Choose
Courses, Class Offerings, then search choosing Science in the PROGRAM drop down menu
3. Sign up for the class “Active Physics” before 1/22/2010
4. You will be contacted by the central PreK-12 Science team via your LAUSD email.
*In order to receive the stipend participants must teach the unit and
complete all required logs and surveys.
