Philosophy of Co-Teaching

Common Vision
Both teachers need a common vision together as to how their classroom is going
to run.
Knowledge and Skills
Being able to relate to the content you are teaching is important. When coteaching it is important that both of you know the content, even though one may
be stronger in it. The other cannot be seen as an aide status.
Professional Respect/Rapport
Since you are working together, you need to be able to communicate with one
another without the fear the other will judge you. Working in a co-teaching
setting is important to have the ability to talk to one another about issues that are
happening within the classroom.
Adaptability
Being able to adapt to situations will make you a well-rounded teacher, and not
put a strain on your relationship with your co-teacher. The motto in your
classroom should be roll with the flow.
Belief in Inclusion
Believe that no matter what type of students you have in your classroom,
everyone deserves to learn. Respect everyone in your classroom and want the
best for their students.
Humor
Having a good sense of humor will allow everything in the classroom to run
smoothly.
