Content:
Do you have a main idea?
o With supporting details
Character Development
o Make sure you describe your characters and create a visual image of
them.
Include the following:
o Title
o Setting
o Plot
o Characters
o Problem/ Solution
Organization:
Your stories should have the following:
o Beginning- introduction of the characters and setting
o Middle- plot and the problem
o End- Solution to the problem and Closing
Make sure theres order to your story- does it flow?
Sentence Structure:
Think of the following:
o Do you have paragraphs
More than one?
Make sure your dialogue is its own paragraph
o Do all your sentences begin with the same word?
o Do your sentences have a variety of length
Vocabulary:
Can your spruce up any of your words?
Think of exciting words thatll make your writing sound better for the reader
You can use your thesaurus for this
Conventions:
Did you check all your spelling! Remember a dictionary
Do you have capitals at the beginning of your sentences? On all names?
o Make sure you have a capital after quotation marks (e.g. You rock
Said Mrs. Walker)
Do you have really long sentenceswith NO punctuation (, / ;/. /! / ?), USE
Commas!
