Natural gas in

Italy
Heba

Introduction
I choose Italy because I really want to go there And I
am going there during the summer. It is great to
learn about Italy. I will be talking about natural gas
and the use of it in Italy. How it is extracted and
many more. I will Talk about my country also to give
you an overview of Italy . Hold on because it is a
learning experience you will never forget.

Italy
Italy is in the the northern part of the Equator in Europe its
boardriding neighbor are Austria, France, switzerland, and
slovenia. Its famous countries are Rome, Venice, Florence. Its
population is 61.1 million. The total area is 116,347.25 sq mi
(301,338.00 sq km). Natural gas is used from 41-48 % and oil
used 30-36% and coal is used 9-18% and Hydropower is 9%
use in Italy.

Extracting Natural gas

Hold on tight this is drilling time lets see under ground.A hole is drilled in the
ground using a drill that uses drill mud to keep it cool then when the vertical
drilling is completed a steel pipe replaces the drill. It is called a surface casing.
Cement comes out of it so it stops migration of fluids between the casing and the
hole it also creates a barrier so no water or dirt cover the hole. then it starts to dig
horizontally when it finds its destination the cement pipe comes back and cases the
rest of the well which means to add the cement on the sides of the hole or
will. Then a tool called the performing gun makes holes then a pump comes and
pumps it into a tube that goes into a truck that holds it.

Generating electricity
The gas is burnt and steam spins turbine that is
connected to the generator. Magnets are spinning inside
of the generator which creates electrons that flow
through wires. The rest of the steam/ pressure from
burning the gas is used to boil water and turns it into
steam then it spins a turbine that is connected to the
generator.the same process happens as the first time I
explained.

Pros & Cons of Impacting the

environment

Pros

Natural gas burns more

efficiently and quickly. It
releases less carbon dioxide into
the air which means less
pollution in the air.It is a better
fossil fuel then all the other fossil
fuel.

Cons

Natural gas still causes global

warming and that is very
dangers. It rowens many
landscapes just to extracted it
and rowens where animals live
and the Environment. When gas
gets spilled in to the ocean that
hearts the fish and the coral. It
might be better then the other
fossil fuel but it is still bad like
the others.

Impacting societies
A big impact is our health. We breath bad air because of the pollution
That happens during the process of burning it. This affects our health.
People that live next to natural gas is bad because of the way it polutes
the inviroment and that can harm us.It also affects the skin and eyes 75
%. 40 - 50 % affect the brain and nerve system. oil business are
dropping because of the use of natural gas in Italy. It is stelling other
energy business sens it is used the most in Italy That means people
get fierd if business is bad. Natural gas has a bad Impact on the way
we live. Animals get harmed the most espcilly fish because of gas
spills. birds get killed becuase of the pollution.
