JOSE RIZAL AND THE PAIR OF

SLIPPERS
Jose Rizal, our national hero, was a playful
boy too when he was young just like us.
One day, he rode in a boat which sailed
the Pasig River with other boys. Jose was
wearing a new pair of slippers. Suddenly,
as they were playing, one of his slippers
fell into the water. Jose quickly got his
other slipper and threw it also into the
water.
Why did you throw the other slipper?,
the boys asked him.

Jose answered, So that a poor fisherman

may find both slippers and give them to
his son.
