This book is a part of a series called One Day in the and in
this particular book we meet a young Venezuelan boy named
Tepui. Tepui is helping a team of natural scientists find an
unkown butterfly species to save the rain forest from being
chopped down. This book gives us an insighted to why we are
cutting down the rain forest and the impact this has on the
environment, especially on the ones that are directly affected by
this.

our environment. Not only should we recycle, but we should
also reuse and reduce to decrease the amount of waste. The
book gives ideas about what you can do in school as well as at
home. Some of the ideas are more general, but there are also
specific things like making sure the faucet is not leaking and
bringing you own bags when you go shopping. Finally, the
books give some ideas for experiments, activities, recipes etc.

This book focuses on what happens when we dont take care
of our planet. There are different kinds of pollution, some are
easy to see, like litter and smoke, but other types of pollution
can be harder to see, for example if our drinking water is
polluted. While clarifying the impact pollution has on the earth
and us humans, it also gives ideas on how to decrease the
amount of pollution. At the very end there are some extra facts,
supplementary readings, a glossary and an index.

Very Good Recyclers by Lauren Child
Age level: 3-5 years old
Why throw your old things away when there are plenty of
people out there in the world that could make good use of
it? Lola discovers that there is a recycling competition and
she asks her class to join her. If they can recycle one
hundred plastic, metal and paper items they will get a
chance to plant their own tree. At the end of the book there
are some recycling tips as well as a poster where kids can
keep track of their recycling.

illustrations are also very fitting to the different topics and make
this book visually appealing and interesting.

a fun and exciting way. It is designed to be engaging and
interactive in order for children to learn about their role of
taking care of planet earth. There are two main activities on
this website. One activity lets you create your own creature

home and highlights how the decisions they make at home
affects the environment, and therefore also our future.

World by Union of Concerned Scientists
This website has an interactive map where students
can click on different labels and learn how global
warming is affecting a certain area. The labels are
color coded, which means that the student can
choose if they want to look at environmental issues
regarding people, freshwater, oceans, ecosystems or
temperature. If you continue to explore the website
you will also see that there is information about the
impacts global warming has on all the mentioned
categories and some solutions to our problems.

For Adults: Greenpeace website


Greenpeace is a non-governmental environment
organization. They are active in countries all over the world
and their website offers information about environmental
issues where you are and in other parts of the world. This
website is not only informative about issues, it also gives you
the opportunity to take action, volunteer and read about what
they do to make this world a better place to live. Right now
you can read about how they trying to save the arctic, stop
global warming, protect the oceans and forests and protect
the agriculture.

For Adults: An Inconvenient Truth with Al Gore


In this video, Al Gore takes us on a journey on how the climate
changes will affect our planet. There is a lot of evidence of
temperatures rising all over the world. Al Gore and his team
explain why this is happening, what the effects could/most likely
will be, and what we can do to prevent this from happening. It is
a very powerful video with a lot of hard facts that might go over
the head of some younger students, and therefore it is more
appropriate for older students/adults.
