THE STAGE OF PUBERTY


It is the process of physical changes by which a child's body
becomes an adult body capable of reproduction

WHEN DOES PUBERTY START?


Puberty usually starts between the ages of 8 to 13 for girls and 10 to 15 for
boys.
It is initiated by hormone signals from the brain to the gonads (ovaries and
testes)
In response, the gonads produce a variety of hormones that stimulate the
growth, function, or transformation of brain, bones, muscle, blood, skin, hair,

Both girls and boys will get a huge appetite, needs to sleep more and will experience poor
coordination or clumsiness

Menstruation, or period, is normal bleeding that occurs as part of a woman's monthly cycle.
Every month, your body prepares for pregnancy. If no pregnancy occurs, the uterus, or womb,
sheds its lining. The menstrual blood is partly blood and partly tissue from inside the uterus

Circumcision is the surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of a boys private part.

CARE FOR OUR BODY DURING THE STAGE OF PUBERTY

Wash genitals with mild soap and water


Wear clean underwear and change it daily
Females should use sanitary napkins whenever they have
menstruation
During circumcision, males should keep the wound clean and dry
and avoid any rough games
Tell your parents if you feel any irritation on your sensitive area

EMOTIONAL CHANGES
At Home

- You have tantrums just like when
you were younger

Display of Anger

In School or Other Places


-You try to control your emotions
in front of peers

to your desire of being independent
and making decisions on your own.

Friendships are still
important, but with more
quarrels than before

Girls dissolve into tears or have outbursts of
