Vale Costa, a sophomore tennis player from Lisbon, Portugal, enjoyed immediate success in her
first season as a Lady Tiger in 2014. Her performance earned her 2014 All-SEC Second Team
and 2014 All-SEC Freshman Team honors. The Portuguese native also was the 2014 ITA
Southern Region Rookie of the Year and a member of the 2014 All-Louisiana Second Team.
A freshman diver from White City, Saskatchewan, Canada, Sthamann was a member of the 2014
Canadian Junior National Team. Sthamann placed third in the platform event at the 2014 Youth
International Diving Meet and looks forward to carrying the positive momentum into her first
year at LSU.
For putting forth extra effort in the classroom and community in addition to their rigorous
academic and competition schedules, these six student-athletes will have their pictures displayed
on the wall in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.
The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility
comprised of an academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology team, serving
more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered
support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
