Many people believe that a scholarship is enough compensation for the time and work a college athlete devotes to their sport. However, this article shares reasons as to why this may not be true. In this article, the definition of payment does not necessarily mean a simple check each month. Payment could be described as the exchange of money fro a fan to an athlete for their football jersey. The purpose of this article is to allow the reader to see from an open-minded view when discussing the payment of college football players. I do not believe the author is trying to persuade the reader to take his side on the issue, but rather he is just simply informing the public of facts pertaining to the issue. _/ ‘The most useful piece of information the author discusses in this article is when he talks about $11 billion déal between the NCAA and CBS for March Madness. The NCAA spends approximately $10.8 billion on airing the three weekends of March Madness. This does not mean that college athletes deserve to be paid. However, it does make it seem as if the NCAA should have enough funding to pay college athletes. This reason is based upon facts rather than the author's opinion.
