The Obligation of Banishing the People of Innovation

From the Masjid

Al-Allmah li al-Fawzn ( ( said:

The Masjid of Allh shall be maintained only by those who
believe in Allh and the Last Day; perform al-alt and give
Zakt. [al-Tawbah 9:18]

So these are the people of the masjid, and these are the people who are
responsible for them and placed in authority over them, not the disbelievers
and the people of innovation; rather, [the masjid] are under the authority of
the people of Imn, the people of Tawd, the people of Aqdah (sound creed).
Similarly, the masjid must be safeguarded from that which does not befit
them; from the greatest [of these affairs], innovations, newly invented matters
and Shirk with Allh (); so it is obligatory to banish the people of
innovation, the people of superstitions and polytheists from the masjid. It is
not permissible to allow them to establish themselves or their innovations,
superstitions or Shirk in the masjid.

It is not for the polytheists to maintain the houses of
Allh. [al-Tawbah 9:17]
Rather, it is obligatory to prevent them from them. The masjid must remain
open for the remembrance of Allh () Alone and His worship alone.

And the masjid are for Allh [Alone], so do not call on
anyone other than Him. [al-Jinn 72:18]
This is how the masjid are maintained, with Tawd and aah (obedience);
worship and remembrance of Allh (). Similarly, the masjid are
safeguarded from that which does not befit them from filth and impurities;
and protected from ignoramuses and children who do wrong in them;
protected from spitting saliva and phlegm in them. This is from what Allh
() has prohibited.1
