My objective is to showcase a brief overview of my accomplishments throughout my academic career, and to highlight
my strengths emphasizing why I am a phenomenal candidate for the English teacher position at your school.
EDUCATION
Gardner-Webb University Boiling Springs, North Carolina 2011-2015
Expected Bachelor of Arts May 2015
Major: English Minor: Professional Education
GPA: 3.72
As a part of the Gardner-Webb School of Education, I had the opportunity to student teach at Kings Mountain
High School. This experience started with observing a senior high school English classroom in November, 2014,
and culminated in ten weeks of full-time teaching of this classroom under the supervision of Mrs. Marcie
McCready. During this time I was taught the typical duties of a teaching, including but not limited to: taking and
reporting attendance, grading and other aspects of PowerSchool, communicating with parents, supervising the
halls to fulfill school-mandated duties, completing disciple referral forms, attending IEP meetings, and satisfying
the daily obligations of any teacher. I developed thorough Common Core based lesson plans which provided a
variety of objectives and assessments. Additionally, I was able to grow as a life-long learner within this school
system and begin to grow in my role as a caring and patient mentor to students. Building connections and
partnerships with the students, parents, and staff, I experienced a genuine understanding of what it means to lead a
classroom.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Interim TeacherBurns High School, Lawndale, North Carolina
11th & 12th grade teacher April 2015 end of the school year
Managing a classroom of a variety of different students, taking attendance, grading papers, inputting information
into PowerSchool, communicating with parents, formulating lesson plans, preparing students for both EOC and
MSLs, and other duties
Through this experience I was able to find out what it meant to actually be a teacher. I am most proud of my
ability to lead a classroom that had previously had three different teachers at differing points of the spring
semester. I recognized how best to utilize classroom management techniques within a classroom of students so
that they could stay task-oriented.
