Position- administrative manager

Megan
Megan trained staff in how to use the app and train the clinics administrative

manager to make changes like adding or editing informational slides to it on her

own.
Megan Winkelman is currently leading the interactive health module project by
building interactive iPad apps for health education, specifically designed for lowliteracy populations.
Megan began working with Bay Area mental health services programs when she was a

college freshman. She worked to improve materials and communication methods to

educate patients about the causes, symptoms, and treatment for mental illnesses.

Through her work, some of which was supported by a Dalai Lama Fellowship, Megan concluded

that there is a significant, unmet need for easily accessible, up-to-date information
on mental health service programs. She found the need to be especially acute among
the homeless population and people for whom English is not their primary language.
Now a Human Biology graduate with a concentration in Neurobiology, Megan will use her award
to create up-to-date online, mobile and printed maps of Bay Area mental health services, overlain
with public transportation routes. Inspired by Brute Lab's Project Open, these maps will focus
initially on San Francisco and Alameda Counties and will be designed for easy and regular
updating by mental health services providers. The information provided will include FAQs
addressing common misunderstandings and fears about mental health treatment.

In addition, she hopes to study further whether personal feelings of worthiness and

general feelings of esteem are impacted by interacting with a high-quality,

technology based education program.

Jessica Collins
A scene in The Blind Side is the seed that so far has produced beds for

349 children in Shelby County, Ky., including 27 in a special effort on

Make A Difference Day.
Jessica Collins, now 14, was just 10 when she watched the movie and
learned that some children didnt have beds.
Four years later, her foundation, A Place to Sleep, is an
annual participant in Make A Difference Day. This past year,
85 volunteers showed up to crochet blankets, make quilts,
tie-dye pillow cases, donate $2,000 for supplies and, most
important, deliver 27 beds to kids in need.
