Black Love March

Love is that condition in the human spirit so profound that it allows me to survive,
and better than that, to thrive with passion, compassion, and style.
-May Angelou

During the month of March African Unification is focusing on the promotion

and practice of Black Love. We know and believe that Black Love is a gateway
to a stronger Black family which will ultimately lead to a stronger Black Race.
History has shown us that our enemies seek to destroy Black Love because
they recognize its power. The power of Black love creates strength,
dedication, unification, protection, and builds communities. Black Love
promotes the things that we need to reclaim our greatness. Dr. Nathan Hare
said through black love we may learn to love again. Learn to love ourselves,
and therefore one another. Lets begin and continue to build Black Love not
only for a better Black family but for a better love among black people
everywhere.

The Black Man and The Black Woman

The Benefits
This relationship is important because it sets the example for many other
young brothers and sisters in our communities. It is the foundation of the
black family which is in turn the foundation of our community as a whole. It
will strengthen our relationships toward and among our race because it
demonstrates the power of black unity and its ability to dominate societal
standards.

The Weapons
A major tool of white supremacy is the perpetuation of Black male passivity
through encouraging effeminization (effeminization is the process of making
an individual have traits, tastes, or habits that are traditionally considered
feminine) bisexuality, and homosexuality. By damaging the black man and
black woman relationship, those who subscribe to white supremacy are able
to disable future generations of young Black Kings and Queens to be born;
destroying our people from existing in future generations, and ensuring the
future of Eurocentric society. The prison industrial complex is responsible
for currently holding twice as many black men (1.7 million) than were
enslaved in 1850 (870,000), and serves as a key tool in the feminization of
the black man. By being broken by the system and forced to submit to an
authoritarian environment, Black males are feminized in prison. They submit
to men that give them orders, they passively depend on men to provide them
with three meals per day, and due to the humans natural sexual urges, many
end up having sexual intercourse with other men.

Resources
Communication is key in strengthening the Black Man and Black Woman
relationship. When entering the relationship both male and female needs to let
their counterpart know exactly what they are looking for and expecting from the
relationship. There is nothing wrong with keeping things casual if you are not in a
point in your life where you are ready to build with a Black King or Queen, just as
there is nothing wrong with being at that point and refusing to settle for less. Again,
the key here is communication. Establishing expectations for your relationship prior
to entering the relationship will not only save heart break, but it can also foster a
relationship that is mutually beneficial to both the male and female. Books on

The Love Story

There is a couple in a community in Albany, Georgia named the Lomans.
They've been married for 56 years and for 29 of those years they have given
marriage counseling advice and couple nights throughout the city. They have
impacted the city so much that they were honored by the city on the 50th
wedding anniversary. Their main priority is teaching self black love and then
eventually black marriage and love. Not only is their story an illustration of the
power of Black Love preservation but it also serves as an example of how that
power can and does effect others.

Self Love
The Benefits
The truth is, no is ever going to love you more than you love yourself. In order
to maximize your full potential, you will need to increase self worth. Self worth
can be defined as the sense of ones own value or worth as a person. In other
words, its how one truly feels about themselves without the outside opinion of
others. Self-love is important because it is remembering where your power is.
Our power is within our race; our ancestry. Knowing who we are and the
lineage we came from will deter our people from trying to take on European
features and characteristics such as their hair, desiring to live in their
neighborhoods and schools, or developing romantic relationships with their
race. Once we embrace our blackness, well be able to go out in the
community and spread the love and change the negative connotation
associated with being black.
The Weapons
Many weapons have been formed against members of the African Diaspora to
prevent self-love. These negative devices were put into place many years ago
and have been passed down through generations. They continuously promote
ignorance, weakness, self-destruction and division within the African
community.
The European Standard of Beauty: Leads us to believe that our natural
African characteristics are inferior.
Negative Black Media Portrayals: Gives us a negative view of ourselves
and forces us to look to the European for proper examples
Hiding and Minimizing African History: Prevents us from understanding
and accepting our leadership role on this planet and tricks our minds into
believing that our current state is progress
War on Our Bodies In America many black neighborhoods are limited to
corner stores and fast food restaurants as primary food sources. In
addition drugs and alcohol are strategically placed in those same
neighborhoods. The goal is to keep us unhealthy and addicted so that we
do not reach our full potential.

The Love Story

Black Wall Street
The best description of Black Wallstreet, or Little Africa as it was also known,
would be liken it to a mini-Beverly Hills. It was the golden door of the Black
community during the early 1900s, and it proved that African Americans had
successful infrastructure. That's what Black Wallstreet was all about.
The dollar circulated 36 to 100 times, sometimes taking a year for currency to
leave the community. The area encompassed over 600 businesses and 36
square blocks with a population of 15,000 African Americans. And when the lower-economic Europeans looked over and saw what the Black community created,
many of them were jealous. When the average student went to school on Black
Wallstreet, he wore a suit and tie because of the morals and respect they were
taught at a young age. The mainstay of the community was to educate every
child. Nepotism was the one word they believed in. Black Wallstreet was a prime
example of the typical Black community in America.

Community
The Benefits
Collectively Blacks in America have a buying power of $1.1 trillion dollars but
even in dealing with local numbers we still have a lot of power. First we must
change our neighborhoods into functional communities that can be defined as
a grouping of people who come together and organize for their own
self -interest. Building our own communities will allow us to become
economically and politically self-sufficient, which will also allow us to better
control the type of education our children receive in the schools they attend, it
will allow us to have more control of the policing that takes place in our
neighborhoods, it will also provide for more control in our own personal lives
and job security, which in return will drastically lower crime in our
communities.

Weapons
Black love of any kind is the biggest threat towards the sustaining of white
supremacy/ European domination. When we mention the love of community
this in particular is of the utmost importance to remain dismantled by the
powers that be. One of the main tools used to suppress this community love
is the propaganda promoted through the media. Through fallacies such as
Black on Black crime a misnomer that has statistically been proven to be
misleading and through the continuous negative television shows and news
coverage about Black neighborhoods it has given many a negative feeling
about these neighborhoods and caused for a distrust amongst the people
living in these communities. Within the U.S. we collectively have a buying
power of $1.1 trillion which gives us the potential to be one of the richest
nations in the world but sadly only 2% of that is spent on Black businesses so
with this huge sum of money being distributed to other groups, nations, and
races the reality is it is not in the best interest of others for us Africans in
America to be independent and self-sufficient.

The Love Story

Jo El Shaw is an African American football player and senior at Woodland Hills
in Pittsburg, PA. As a young boy, Jo El endured the trauma of watching his
father choke, stab, and beat his mother every day. Growing up in that
environment showed Jo El that respecting women was not held to a high
regard. Statistics show that kids who grow up in abusive homes become the
abuser as an adult. Instead of heading into that lifestyle, Jo El chose not to
become a statistic. With the help of his mother and some of the football staff,
he was able to build confidence within himself. Jo El now knows there are other
routes to take with regards to treating women his life. He learned the power of
respect and is now able to mentor others on the football team.

Parent and Child

Resources

This relationship is extremely important to nation building because everybody

all people by nature model the behaviors demonstrated by their parents. If
they witness a loving, respectful relationship between their parents that also
makes the raising strong children a priority then those children will most likely
grow up to build a strong family as well. If every household had strong families
with both parents involved in their children's lives, the community would be so
much stronger. We would automatically give off the same love & respect that
raised us. There can be no unity in the community without love, and it starts in
the households of our families.

Action Steps:

Weapons
The issues with the parent/child relationship stem from a long history of self
hate (example: light skinned, dark skinned). The media is the main weapon
inflicted by white supremacy to damage this particular relationship.
One way in doing that is constantly showing people with lighter skin as more
beautiful than people with darker skin. This affects parent/child relationships
because in some homes, parents tend to treat the kids with lighter skin better
than the kids with darker skin. This damages the child who grows up
automatically hating themselves and their family as a result. Another way
media is used to damage this relationship is by exposing children to
teachings that drastically contradict that which is taught in the home. It has
become increasingly difficult for parents to compete with the images fed to
children though television, film, and music. Lastly, with the break up of the
black family, mothers who are the natural caregivers are forced to spend more
time away from home to earn a living. Many of our children with working
mothers and absent fathers suffer from feelings and effects of abandonment
and neglect.

Demonstrate a love of self that children can model

Parents should love and treat all of their children equally
Children need that love from BOTH parents
Parents MUST teach/show their children that Black is beautiful in all shades
and to be proud of who they are.
Parents need to play an active roles in their childrens intellectually and
social development
Parents need to monitor and regulate their childrens media intake.

could be to her two daughters, Mari and Lila.
--Its a ritual I began the first day my girl Mari started kindergarten. Id fluff her
super cutie outfit, adjust the fancy barrettes in her hair, take her little moon pie
face into my hands, kiss those beautiful cinnamon brown cheeks, and pump her
up all the way from the garage to the front steps of her school, where she was
the only black girl in her class. You are fantastic, baby girlthe smartest little girl
I know, Id say, looking directly into her big browns, like a trainer does a sweaty
