ending a life on purpose in order to

prevent someone from suffering
death with dignity
Mostly requested in case of fatal diseases
that would lead to death within the next
few months
usually initiated by lethal medicine (or
injections)
separated in indirect, passive and active
euthanasia as well as assisted suicide

What is Euthanasia?

voluntary euthanasia = legal in some U.S.

states and countries all over the world;
involuntary euthanasia = always considered a
crime murder
legal in Oregon, Vermont and Washington;
Germany allows all types of euthanasia, except
for the active one.

When you talk about this topic in German, dont say Euthanasie. The
Nazis made euphemistic use of this term to disguise their crimes
towards Jews, Communists and many other minorities in the
concentration camps.

Many moral and ethic controversals about

questions like the following:

who decides whether Euthanasia should

be considered a crime or not?

what justifies Euthanasia when are you

okay with consciously killing someone?

what about exceptions? What if mistakes

happen?
