COLLABORATIVE LESSON EVALUATION

COLLABORATION DATES:
First meeting: February 23, 2015 at 3:30 until 4:00 (planned goals for unit/decided on preassessment survey/decided that librarian would create PowerPoint and together both of us would
find primary sources that applied to the Westward Expansion unit)
Second meeting: March 9, 2015 at 3:30 until 4:00 (planned post-assessment survey/finalized
PowerPoint and primary sources/ran through the lesson and practiced modeling a primary
source conversation that we would want the students to have)
CONTENT TOPIC: Westward Expansion
What worked well in this lesson/unit?
Students love being involved and doing things within a lesson
Made them think about what they already knew about westward expansion
Introduced them to primary sources

Was this lesson/unit enhanced through collaboration? Definitely. Always beneficial to


have all different input into a lesson to make it interesting for students.
Was it successful enough to warrant doing it again in the future? Absolutely! I feel like
the students enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Nice to do something a little different and hands
on.
Suggestions for improvement? N/A. Students thoroughly enjoyed. I thought the level was
great and challenged them without frustration. Was great to hear the conversations taking place.
