Where are the resources found in your country; what connections are there to
any landforms?
The island of Saupatowok has many natural resources. There coal and
silver mines in the mountains. The people fish and sell animal hides.
Timber is another abundant natural resource available in the forest on
the main island. There has been some evidence of oil deposits, but the
people have restricted drilling activities to preserve the environment.
Saupatowok exports a portion of these resources, but it is not a main
source of income.
The people of Saupatowok have turned to environmentally friendly
energy sources. Initially coal, timber, and wind were their main energy
sources. Currently they are utilizing energy from rivers, solar, and
geothermal sources as well. The scientists and engineers on
Saupatowok are always looking for new energy sources, and are
currently investigating utilizing energy from the nearby volcanic
islands.
6. Describe the population of your country. Where do people live? Why do they
live there? Does your country have a huge population, or a very small one? Is
your countrys population growing? Why or why not? Do people in your
country migrate a lot or do they stay put? What are some of the push and pull
factors for your country?
The countrys population is close to 22 million people, but it is still
growing. Many people live in the nations capital, which is in a valley in
the northernmost part of the mountains. The majority of the people live
near rivers. The most populated area is around the largest river,
Bigguriba, which flows across the island and into the ocean. The other
common location for citizens is along the coast where Bigguriba
empties into the Gulf of Alaska. Bigguriba is an important source of
water to the people of Saupatowok so most people tend to live near it,
but there are people living near other rivers and lakes or by the
rainforest and the bogs, since all these places have water sources.
Saupatowok not only has a high natural population increase, but also
receives a high number of immigrants. There are many young families
with lots of children, and people have a high life expectancy due to the
healthy lifestyle of the society. People migrate into the country, but
once they settle down they rarely move to another region of the
country. Citizens born in Saupatowok dont tend to move very far from
their place of birth, due to strong family connections. Some push
factors of Saupatowok are that the cost of living can be fairly high due
to the environmentally friendly energy sources and that the winters get
unpleasantly cold. Some of the pull factors for this country are that the
education system is excellent (one of the best in the world), that the
9. Describe the social structure of your countrys people. Are there social
classes in your country? What are they? Is family Important to the people of
your country? If so, are nuclear or extended families more prevalent?
The social system of Saupatowok is very peculiar. While education is
very important to the people, family is even more important. Many
workers turn down job opportunities offering higher wages because
they want to stay near their extended family. As the population
continues to grow and families get larger this makes available housing
a challenge.
The social classes dont rank groups above the rest as much as mark
them as different. The social classes are split culturally (Indigenous,
Japanese, American, etc.) and occupationally (government officials,
scientists, artists, etc.). However all social divisions are more or less
treated equally.
10.What kind of economic system do the people of your country use? Do they
use capitalism, socialism, or communism? Do they have their own unique
system? What is the money called in your country? Do people even use
money? If not, what is the alternative?
The economic system has wavered between capitalism and socialism,
but is more strongly capitalism. Because of the silver found in the
mountains, the currency is mostly mixtures of silver and other metal
coins and silver certificates redeemable for silver (similar of paper
money). The people also use digital banking with debit cards and
checks. The currency names are:
Ublureak (the base currency, the nickname is Ublu)
Nikkeru (nicknamed Nik, there are 2 in a Ublu)
Pyat (there are 5 pyat in an Ublu)
D (there are 10 ds in an Ublu)
11.What kind of political system does your country have? Is it a monarchy, a
direct democracy, constitutional monarchy, or a dictatorship? Is your country
governed by one big central government, or is it run by many smaller
governments at the local level (Federalism)?
Saupatowok is a representative democracy. The country has 5 major
districts which each have 3 representatives in the federal government.
The federal government consists of a president, vice president,
secretary, and a board of 8 government officers. The people vote for all
of their leaders, and the representatives work closely with the citizens
they are over to ensure that they are represented accurately.
