Summary of Implementation:
Wanting to be an art teacher, I would attempt to use The Artists Toolkit in my weekly
classroom. Because this website explores many of the elements of design, my students
would be able to interactively learn about the elements prior to starting a project. Each class
would start off with an element of design. To start, I would play the video for line, showing
the different types of line, the students would then be able to identify and create the
variations. If need be, the video could be played multiple times or multiple videos could be
shown to create a link from one element to another.
Because the video is short, I would then provide my own example of the lesson
taught. After the element is taught using the Artists Toolkit, I would then give a project to
enhance the learning. For line I might ask students to create an art piece using different
types of noodles- straight, flat, macaroni, etc. With the finished piece, students would also
be asked to label their different types of line. Once this project is done the original video of
the element would be shown again and there would be a mini-quiz to make sure that each
student has learned the concept. The Artists Toolkit is an important resource because it will
capture students attention through the length of the videos, the creativity of the videos, and
the projects that would then be linked to each video viewed through The Artists Toolkit.
