Career Portfolio Reflection

As mentioned in my Cover Memo, My dream job is to become a monetary or
fiscal policy maker. In several of my Economics courses, I have done debates in relation
to developing suitable monetary and financial policies adequate for the economy.
Currently, my dream job is still to become a monetary or fiscal policy maker. This course
made me realize how much I truly enjoy my field of study and how determined I am to
pursue my career. This semester, I took an ECON 211 course and we had an open
parliamentary debate. This debate was about how we can fund for higher education,
and both teams had to take different approaches on how to fund for it. Both teams had
to come up with unique approaches on how to financially fund for higher education, and
this involves a lot of financial policy making. Indeed, this has been one of the most
educational debates I have had, and it made me realize how much I do enjoy and want
to become a monetary or fiscal policy maker.
The parts of the project that I found most beneficial were the Cover Letter and
Rsum. In St. Johns, I have written Cover Letters and Rsums, however, this course
was more rigorous in terms of quality paper work. It was challenging writing a Cover
letter and Rsum, however, it will be surely beneficial for future use. The part of the
project that I found least beneficial was the Article Review. I could not understand why
we had to do an Article Review for our BADM 350 course; however, I realized that this
assessment was done to replace the interview we had to do. I have done Article

Reviews for Dr. Loskot, which is why it was not a big challenge. However, I still enjoyed
writing the review.
Moreover, my favorite part of the project was writing my cover letter and as well
making my personal website. I enjoyed writing about my dream job, but I mostly enjoyed
constructing a website solely about my profession. I have never constructed a website,
and making an E-Portfolio is a clever way of revealing ones career. In the beginning, I
had no idea how to start my website, but after a while I learnt how to create new pages
and I enjoyed creating them. I personally believe that there are not any cons in creating
an E-portfolio website. The beauty about creating one is that there are not any limits,
and you can better and make changes at any time. I strongly believe that this E-portfolio
will help me for my job search. It contains all information necessary about myself and
about my profession.
All in all, I truly enjoyed this course, however, one thing that I would change
about this project is that I would want to make an interview. Students gain experience
when actually doing job interviews, and they know what to expect and how to prepare
for a successful interview.
