Downing Elementary school in Runnemede, New Jersey really defines this quote. School is not
only about learning subject matter, but also life skills and respect. Grace Downing Elementary
school is known for their dedicated passionate staff who not only focus on learning subjects
within the classroom, but also how to grow as respectful caring individuals. Grace Downing
Elementary is a great school that fosters collaboration, teamwork, perseverance, and the
motivation for all learners to reach his/her potential while maintaining a customized education
for all learners.
Throughout my years in college, I have observed multiple classrooms ranging in grade
levels from second to fifth grade. After being in a third grade classroom for a semester that is
where I knew I needed to start my career after graduation. At Grace Downing Elementary the
kindergarten through third grade teachers teach all of the major subjects aside from the electives
such as art, music, physical education, computers, and library. During my time at Grace
Downing in the third grade I will be the main teacher in the classroom for language arts, social
studies, mathematics, and science. I have learned that not all students learn the same way and
that they each have their own personal multiple intelligences. I will make it a goal of mine to
accommodate to each individual student based on their own multiple intelligence to get the best
learning experience.
Enthusiastic, compassionate, dedicated, creative, organized, and strong communication
skills comes to mind when thinking of qualities and characteristics that reflect teachers, but they
also represent qualities that make up my personality. I am an extremely dedicated worker. When
I am passionate about something I put my all into it. I believe that in order to keep students
engaged, the lessons have to be creative and fun. I am an extremely organized person. I feel that
the way a teacher keeps his/her classroom portrays the way they teach.
As a future teacher at Grace Downing Elementary there are many ideas and skills I am
willing to bring to this position. I have had numerous classes in mathematics, writing, history,
and science. I believe in collaboration and that students work best from working with each other.
I am knowledgeable in technology and am for using technology in the classroom to assist my
lessons but not overpower them. There are many web 2.0 tools that I am willing to incorporate
into my lessons such as Socrative, GoSoapBox, NearPod, Kahoot, and Jeopardy Labs to not only
help boost my students energy level and get them more engaged with their learning but also to

reach each individual student and their learning style. Technology is evolving more and more
everyday so it is important integrate it within the classroom for real life purposes. I am also
proficient in PowerPoint. There are a wide range of features that can be used in PowerPoint to
help enhance learning.
As you can see, I am very eager to start at Grace Downing Elementary school as a third
grade teacher. I want to make sure my students leave with all of the content knowledge possible
and also a great deal of respect and real world skills. I am very dedicated, passionate, and
enthusiastic about teaching third grade at Downing and I feel as though I would be a great asset
to the team.
