1. Actual Assessment - Creating a Prezi Presentation

About Prezi

Prezi is a presentation tool that can be used as an

alternative to traditional slide making programs
such as PowerPoint. Instead of slides, Prezi makes
use of one large canvas that allows you to pan and
zoom to various parts of the canvas and emphasize
the ideas presented there.

Move your mouse to the right so that the

magnifying glass tools can appear. There are two
ways to zoom in and out:
You can use your mouses scroll wheel or
You can slick the + and symbols on the
magnifying glass
To move your canvas left, right, up, or down, hold
down the left button of your mouse and then move
in the direction you want to go.
The home button on the right hand side of your
canvas, will re-zoom the Prezi to its original size.

groups your ideas as a whole, which means that
you can make changes, drag, and delete content all
at once. Frames come in different shapes and sizes.
You can change the color of your frame or include
an invisible frame.

1. Actual Assessment Lesson Outline for Teacher

This lesson completion time frame is approximately
60 minute.

Introduction

Introduce the lesson Creating a Prezi

Presentation. Pass out the flyer already created.
Ask the following questions:
Who has used Prezi before and for what?
How did you hear about Prezi?
After a brief discussion, play the video Get Started
in Prezi. This video will introduce students to the
differences between simple PowerPoint
Presentations and a Prezi presentation. This video
will teach students about Prezi while presenting
the information in a Prezi!

Teacher Demonstration

Teacher will create a simple Prezi presentation

demonstrating Prezi to learners. This will give
students an idea of what they will be learning.
Initially, students will follow the teacher to create
their own Prezi account.
Go to Prezi.com
Create an Account
Start a new Prezi Presentation (the topic All
about GPC)
Explain to students that they can copy a Prezi and
make changes as they like, but for todays lesson
they will use a blank canvas to learn the tools and
techniques. Review page one and two with
students.

4. Report of Your Findings

Explain what worked well or did not work well with the assessment implementation.
My finding after implementing the assessment and observing the lesson being deliver was satisfying. I
realized that the training conducted by Ms. Price was both community-centered and learner-centered. This
training emphasize the critical component of Vygotskys social cognition. Students were engaged with the
instructor and their peers. They asked questions and had an understanding of the expectation the instructor has
on their learning. I created an assessment on completing a Prezi presentation for my client LaSean Price. The
method of delivery was a mix method. I had four students who received the instructions and demonstration at
the college setting in one of their computer lab and four students who received the instructions fully online. I
found that creating a Prezi presentation was relatively simple for the instructor as well as for the students. The
directions given before and the ability of the instructor to explain and create a Prezi as she demonstrated was
extremely helpful for students whos setting was in the classroom, and that worked well. For t students who
were completing the project fully online, it was a little more challenging due to the lack of demonstration. Even
though the online students were able to successfully complete their presentation, they took more time and had
more questions, than the students who completed the project in a classroom. I believe that these students
needed an initial exposure to Prezi. My plan for the future for an online assessments is to include a video that
demonstrates how to create the presentation. After reviewing all students Prezi presentations, I realized that
conducting a project assessment was a valuable evaluation tool that measured their understanding on particular
content. The majority of the students were able to use all tools available to them in Prezi while just a very few
were limited to the instructions given on the assessments.
Were the students/participants able to complete the work as directed or did they need clarification on
anything?

7|Page

The instructor was able to follow the lesson plan and provided students with the tools they needed to
create their presentation. She started with allowing students to create a Prezi account, showing student a Prezi
YouTube video, demonstrated how to double-click to add text, included images, changed the theme and layout
of the presentation, explained and showed student the editing tools, and finally, demonstrated how to connect
path. This allowed student with a fully understanding of what to expect. Therefore, students were able to
complete the work directed by the instructor; however, some of the online students needed a little more
clarification on completing their work. Overall, the Prezi presentation was a fun and powerful evaluative tool
that I enjoyed and hope to implement again in the near future.
Did you get the types of responses or performances you expected?
The responses and performances were as I expected. Since I understood my learners prior knowledge, I
was able to develop and implement instructions that are suitable to their needs. My learners characteristic were
adult learner who had never created a Prezi presentation but had a wealth of knowledge in terms of technology
and different tools available. The steps to creating a Prezi had to be explained in a detailed matter to allow my
learners to successfully complete their project.
What should be done to improve the assessment the next time it is implemented?
5. Report of Impact on Student Learning
Immediately after the assessment was concluded, I conducted an evaluation to determine the effectiveness
of the training and assessment. The methodology of my evaluation was based on Donald Kirkpatricks Four
Level Evaluation Model. The four levels consist of reaction, learning, behavior, and results. This study
examined the training program and the impact on student learning. Using an online survey instrument,
participants were asked to evaluate the following:
1. Reaction: I consider the training relevant to my job.
2. Learning: I feel that I can conduct a presentation on Prezi on my own.
3. Behavior: I will put what I have learned into effect when return to my job.

8|Page

To determine the results based on the respondents viewed of the training, students were asked to complete an
online survey tool to rate how sufficient each level was to their acquired knowledge. A scoring data was used to
analyze the data. The scoring were as follow: strongly agree =5, agree =4, neutral =3, disagree =2, and strongly
disagree =1. The results are shown in Table 1 are for the whole group of students.
Analysis for the whole group of students

Analysis for subgroups of students

The subgroups that I used to conduct an analysis were students who completed the course online with
students who completed the training on campus. Additionally, I used a single-item scores and assigned a
number to each question. The results are listed on Table 2.

The programs research finding indicated a need to further explore how Vygotskys social cognition impact
online novel students learning. The research indicated that students reaction, learning, and behavior were very
simpler to both groups.
Central Tendency
The average age of all participants was M= 36 years. Out of 10 questions asked on the survey, the mode
was 100% of the participants indicated to have considered the training relevant to their job, can conduct a
presentation on Prezi on their own, will put what they have learned into effect, and where satisfied with the
9|Page

training. When asked the question about what they would like to see more next time, 100% of the students who
were taking the training online indicated that they are interested in seeing more videos, and 100% of the
students who took the course on campus indicated that they could like to see more examples.
6. Future Instructional Plans
After working with my client, I realized that I enjoy assisting her with creating the assessment. My
future instructional plans are to continue assisting her and any other colleagues that my need assisting. After
reviewing the analysis of the training, we realized that more work needs to be done to the online training area.
My plan is to use to college resources and create a Desire2Learn training for all admission counselors. I will
implement an online training video about different topic. To ensure that the videos and training are effective, I
will create on online survey using Google form to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs.
