Bulletin Board Project Instructions and Rubric

Your small group of four students will create a bulletin board that will be on display
for an estimate of two weeks. Please complete the Reflection piece on the back of
this rubric before turning in your rubric. Also, it is important for the bulletin boards
to look professional because many visitors will walk by the bulletin board.

Your group will be in charge of choosing a theme and creating a small

template to post beside the bulletin board (see page 2).
Date bulletin board is to be displayed: 3/16/15

Title: I Spy. Spring

Grade Level: Kindergarten
Subject Area (s): Science
Common Core / Standard(s) bulletin board addresses:
Earth and Space Science (ESS): Daily and Seasonal Changes This topic focuses on
observing, exploring, describing and comparing weather changes, patterns in the
sky and changing seasons.
Objective / Purpose of bulletin board:
Our objective and purpose is for students to recognize elements of the spring
season and be able to identify characteristics or organisms in that particular
environment. Through this bulletin board the students will be able to observe and
connect with the natural world. The teacher can use the colorful bulletin board as a
starting point for discussions and further exploration of the objects shown. This
bulletin board encourages inquiry and tactile learning while highlighting the spring
season.

project? How did you contribute to the completion of the project? How were your team
members helpful/not helpful? Let me know what was beneficial, what wasnt, and why. Did this
project help you feel more prepared for serving your future students?
I was incredibly proud of the work I did on this project. This was the first bulletin board I
have ever worked on and I actively contributed to its end result. Our group collaborated
effectively and after coming up with the topic and standard we split up the material that would be
represented on the board. I made the animals, birds nest, rain, and labeled all the objects! I am
most proud of my lettering of I SPY SPRING.
When I went home for spring break my mother showed me her old teaching tools. She
gave me her beloved stenciling and lettering that she made by hand. Back then they didnt make
those for teachers and now I can benefit in using so many different fonts and letters to trace
words. This project was very collaborative as it even helped me learn from my mother. This
project helped me feel more prepared for serving my future students because I purposefully
thought of different learning intelligences and think this bulletin board is a great tool to start

many different conversations for learning. What if my future students all made a different
element of spring and we put it on the board and discussed its relevance in class? Or what if each
day we examined another object on the board and learned about it more in depth. Lastly, I think
this board is lovely because it uses many different materials. I wanted there to be an obvious
kinesthetic aspect to this board. Thank you so much for this opportunity!
