REMARKS:
Huge difference in intra regional exports has

been observed from beginning .

ASEAN countries total export is much more
than SAARC countries total export.
For 2013 total intra regional export for SAARC
countries was $23.18 billion and for ASEAN
countries it was 329.79 billion.

REASON FOR FAILURE OF

SAARC:
Indo centric nature of region. India occupies

76% area, 77% of population of total south

Asia. This in return a sense of insecurity and
negative impact on other members.
Failure of SAFTA (south Asian free trade
agreement).

HOW SAARC CAN BE MADE

EFFECTIVE:
Member countries should set an open market,

lunching of single unit of money could also be good.

Conflicts should be resolved to decrease defense

budget so developmental expenses could be

increase.
Education should be provided serious attention.
Tourism can generate good revenue for some of

countries if it would be given better notice.
