MissTaylorWeaversuccessfullycompletedherstudentteachinginthesixthgradeWrittenLanguage
classroomatADMMiddleSchool,partoftheAdelDeSotoMinburnSchoolDistrict.Taylorwas
responsibleforteachingWrittenLanguagetoonehundredtwentysevenstudentswithawiderangeof
abilities,includingstudentswithbehaviorplans,academicmodifications,andacceleratedneeds.

Taylorcreatedavarietyoflessonplans.SheusedtheCommonCoreCurriculumstandardstoprepare
lessonsthatmotivatedstudents.Taylorcreatedacharactersketchunitusingavarietyofresources,
includingteachercollaboration,tocarefullyplanandmeettheneedsofherstudents.Sheincorporated
severaldifferenttypesofwritingactivities,exercises,andstrategiesthatweremotivatingandgearedto
thestudentslevelofunderstanding.

TaylordemonstratedunderstandinginplanningandinstructingWrittenLanguageaspartofthe
WritersWorkshopframework.Duringhercharactersketchunit,lessonsincorporatedallareasofthe
writingprocess.Shegatheredmentortexts,allowingstudentstoexperienceagoodrepresentationofthe
particularwritingtheywouldbeexpectedtodo.Taylorimmersedstudentsinthementortexts,asthey
readandcloselystudiedtheparticularwritinggenre.Shecreateddailyminilesonsassociatedwiththe
processofthestudyinwhichstudentswereengaged.Highexpectationsweresetasstudentsfinisheda
pieceofwritingthatdemonstratedtheinfluenceofthestudy.Theuseofanecdotalnotesfromdaily
oneononeconferenceswereusedtoassessstudentsneedsandskillsanddrivefurtherinstruction.
Tayloralsousedevidenceofdrafting,revisingandediting,andstudentsfinalproductstoassesstheir
overallgradefortheunitofstudy.

Taylorwasinvolvedinteammeetingsdailywiththesixthgradeteachers.Thesemeetingsinvolved
planning,engaginginaprofessionalbookstudy,addressingstudentconcernsandcelebrations,and
sharingtechnologyrelatedideasandissues.ShealsoexperiencedProfessionalLearningCommunity
discussionsthatinvolveddevelopingandrevisingunitsalignedwiththeCommonCore.

Insummary,TaylorWeaverhasexcellentqualitiesandabilitiesthatwillensureasuccessfulcareerin
education.Sheisdependable,motivated,andintunewiththeneedsofherstudents.Taylorwillbean
assettoanyelementaryormiddleschool.IhighlyrecommendTaylorforapositionasanelementaryor
middleschoolteacher.
